How can we reimagine the relationship between government and the governed? The Philadelphia Citizen, in partnership with The Barnes Foundation, invites you to rethink city government with four forward-thinking American mayors who have disrupted government as usual. The conversation will be followed by a DNC watch party for Hillary Clinton’s scheduled acceptance of the Democratic Nomination.
Featuring:
- John Fetterman of Braddock, PA, who has used arts and culture to address urban blight
- Svante Myrick of Ithaca, NY, whose plan to address the heroin epidemic includes a "supervised injection facility"
- Alex Torpey of South Orange, NJ, who gamified the city budget
- Lovely Warren of Rochester, NY, who has pioneered the advent of worker-owned cooperative businesses in at-risk neighborhoods
The panel will include an audience Q&A, and attendees will also have access to The Barnes Foundation’s world-renowned permanent collection, as well as to the current special exhibition by Jamaican-born/New York based installation artist Nari Ward.
This event is made possible by generous support from Knight Foundation, and is presented in partnership with 900AM-WURD and Young Involved Philadelphia.
Light refreshments will be provided by Starr Event Group.
